Vinyl Richie| The
Experimentalist

Vinyl Richie, also known as Yo! Vinyl Richie, is a Brooklyn-based turntablist and sound architect who treats the turntable as a high-concept instrument for improvisation and world-building.

A 2025 resident at Harvestworks in the Technology Immersion Program, he has pioneered ambisonic turntable performances, using 3D spatialized sound to push the boundaries of traditional DJing. His work extends into film and experimental art, having composed and performed original music for visual artist Moko Fukuyama’s American Recordings series.

Whether he is performing live improvisational sets or hosting his weekly Twitch sessions dedicated to hip-hop culture, Richie remains a pivotal figure in the fusion of gritty vinyl tradition and avant-garde sonic exploration.

The Partnership

The creative partnership between Prolific Wone and Vinyl Richie is rooted in the global hip-hop institution End of the Weak (EOW), where lyrical discipline, live performance, and cultural authenticity intersect. Both artists developed within EOW’s circuit, building a shared foundation grounded in hip hop culture, competitive performance, and technical precision.

This background defines their collaborative dynamic—pairing Pro's cinematic, concept-driven approach with Vinyl Richie’s turntablism, where scratches, cuts, and vocal phrasing function as rhythmic and narrative instruments.

Their collaboration spans key releases including “Sol Movment”—a single from In The Red with an accompanying music video—and “NY2XS” from BLVKC. Across both records, Vinyl Richie contributes scratches and hook elements that enhance the structure and texture of each track, reinforcing transitions, accenting themes, and anchoring the records in classic hip-hop tradition.

The result is a dialogue shaped through EOW’s NYC foundations, where live-performance sensibilities translate directly into recorded work—highlighting a partnership built on authenticity, technical craft, and a continued evolution of the DJ/MC dynamic.
