Jimmy Aponte | The
Photo Painter
Born and raised in the heart of NYC, Aponte is best known for his signature "photo-paintings," a unique technique where he applies bold, vibrant brushstrokes directly over his original street photography to create surreal, layered narratives of city life.
A dedicated figure in the local art scene, he has managed and exhibited through the 325 Project Space in Ridgewood, using art as a vehicle for community engagement and advocacy in neighborhoods facing displacement. His portfolio, which includes large-scale murals and digital collages, has been showcased at major events like ArtExpo New York, cementing his reputation as a vital voice in contemporary New York urban art.

The Partnership
In a masterclass of urban visual storytelling, NYC fine arts photographer Jimmy Aponte stepped into the role of Art Director for the "Honeymoon" music video, a standout visual from the critically acclaimed In the Red album. Collaborating with Prolific Wone and filmmaker Jacob McCoy, Aponte elevated the project by integrating his signature "photo-painting" aesthetic into the video’s narrative fabric.
Lending his evocative canvas work to the background, Aponte meticulously stylized the colors and atmosphere to reflect the song's emotional depth. Central to this creative partnership is the original canvas art cover crafted by Aponte specifically for "Honeymoon," which showcases his unique ability to layer vibrant textures and street-inspired grit, effectively defining the visual identity of this Prolific Wone collaboration.
